| I WANT.... |
SO PLEASE.... |
| ...to tell Boomie that the site is Yoruba-specific. |
First read this. Then if you still want to leave comments about that, sign the guestbook. |
| ...to leave a comment (good or bad), that needs no response. |
Sign the guestbook. |
| ...to leave a comment (good or bad), and want a response. |
Sign the guestbook. The contents are automatically emailed the contents, and I will respond if it seems necessary or appropriate, when I have the time. |
| ...to tell me that the Nigeria clock is incorrect. |
Before you do this, please check your computer's time, date, and time zone. Unfortunately, the clock on each page depends on the client computer. If you still believe it is mistaken, then please go to the time form so that you send me enough information to investigate the problem. |
| ...to inform me of a Nigerian scam or verify if a 'letter' you received is one. |
Please visit the scam information page first. |
| ...to report a different problem/correction/etc. on the site. |
Email webdiva@motherlandnigeria.com. |
| ...to get some help on a homework assignment. |
Visit the homework page. |
| ...to link to this page. |
As long as I would not object to the contents of your page, go ahead, you don't need to ask my permission. I even have logos and instructions that you can use. The types of sites I would oppose are 'adult-only-sites', or those promoting violence, hate, etc. |
| ...to ask a question about Nigeria in general. |
I can no longer keep up with the email volume on this site, while maintaining the other services. So, my first suggestion is that you search the site first to make sure your question is not already answered. You would be amazed how many questions I receive that are already answered on the site. If you are convinced your question is still not answered (and many aren't), then post it on the question and answer board for more visibility (some very knowledgeable people check the board often to help me out with questions, and I will give more priority to those questions than the ones in my email). |
| ...to find someone who is Nigerian or who I believe is in Nigeria. |
Nigeria is a very big place. Right now, I do not live there, but even if I did, I probably know less than .00001 of the population. As much as I would like to help, the chance that I know them is extremely small, so please visit the questions page to learn better ways to find missing people, and good luck. Please do not email me with these. |
| ...to find someone to do some business with here or in Nigeria. |
Sorry. I personally have no business sense. But, if you email business@motherlandnigeria.com, I'll see if my parents or someone else I know and trust is interested. |
...to help others learn more about Nigeria
...to show off knowledge about Nigeria. |
Visit the question and answer board and help out. |
| ...to tell others about this site |
Go ahead. You can even use the recommendation form. |
| ...to make a request/suggestion for the site contents |
First, visit the site future page, and if it is not covered on that page, there is a chance to email me on the bottom of that page. |
| ...to aid with developing some part of the site |
Email webdiva@motherlandnigeria.com and let me know what you are thinking |
| ...to tell Boomie that you could do a better job on the site. |
Don't tell me. I do not like competitions. Build the site, email me with the URL, and I will view your site, and link to it from relevant areas of mine. |
| ...to find out more about Boomie |
Visit my homepage. |
| ...to be pen-pals or friends with Boomie |
I like to think that I am a friendly person, bit I get TONS of email, and no matter what anyone thinks, I do not spend all my time on the computer. I have however started a "Motherland Nigeria Pals" club, and you are free to join that (even if you are not Nigerian) and meet others there. |
| ...to ask Boomie to introduce you to other Nigerians. |
Join the pals group. |
| ...to look for a boyfriend or girlfriend |
Visit the love zone. |
| ...to be able to tell when a portion of the site is updated |
You CAN use a utility like NetMind to inform you when any page(s) on the web (that you choose of course) is updated. The only disadvantage to that is that you will probably get a notification if ANYTHING is changed, which is often since this site is not fully grown yet.
On the intro page I try to indicate if real content is changed (as opposed to editted, corrected, etc.).
|
...to tell Boomie of a new email virus that you have heard about (for instance, Good Time, Win a Holiday, Frogs, etc.).
...to send Boomie an email (or real life) chain letter
...to tell Boomie of a new life warning you have heard about (for instance, the Cookie Recipe, the Kidney Snatchers, the female abductors)
...to ask Boomie to help a dying child by sending email to everyone I know
...to ICQ Boomie with an ICQ warning
|
Don't do it yet!
I am not saying everything you hear on the net is false, but the net makes it effortless to spread false rumors, and besides the fact that many people are being unnecessarily frightened, it is cluttering my mailboxes, making it harder for me to get to legitimate emails (which is why some email programs have a feature you can set to automatically delete messages sent to multiple people, assuming that they are chain letters). So, to help yourself (so that you are not unnecessarily scared), and to help me (so I can continue to get to my legitimate emails without having to automatically delete any messages), please verify things before you forward it to everyone on your list. Here are some links that provide easy ways to verify things.
Please don't misunderstand me. I am more than willing to help children and do believe in being careful in life, and though I cant explain why people do this, I do know that there are documented proofs of these things:
- My links to viruses, virus hoaxes, and chain letters is a list that I compiled a while ago of sites that are devoted to informing about real viruses as well as explaining why virus hoaxes are hoaxes. Choose your favorite, bookmark it, and help stop the rumors.
- MiningCo Urban Legends guide is an excellent resource from MiningCo that is really up-to-date on all the net urban legends, and has a great search feature so that it only takes a minute to see if what you are about to forward is already a documented legend, and how they know it is just an urban legend.
If after checking these sites, you still believe it is a legitimate email, send it to me and I'll see if I can verify it before we send it to a zillion other people.
